I'm sitting at the same table where I've eaten my entire life. And I realize now that I've lived AWAY from home as long as I lived AT home. Eighteen years ago, I moved into 244 Carpenter Hall at Texas Tech University. It was hot. There was no air conditioning, and I couldn't have been more excited.
My roommate, Andrew from New Mexico, was a complete fruitcake. The first week, he told me that demons were in the television shows I watched.
He left. I stayed.My next roommate was Kyle from Arizona, and he collected Dr. Pepper cans. We had ants. But, he was fine that I watched Regis and Kathie Lee and As The World Turns.
We managed.
Those years at Texas Tech were amazing. Some things have changed since then, and somethings have not -- I watched Regis and Kelly this morning and almost every morning for the last 18 years.
