Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

A Day In Delhi: Part I

Now in Delhi - I arrived on Saturday afternoon. Beautiful day. Really really
beautiful. Much cooler than I expected.

For the first time I see why people are captivated by India. The sunlight
here is amazing, and some of the architecture is stunning. It's astonishing
to me that so many worlds can exist within steps of each other.

I broke one of my rules yesterday. This little boy - about 7 or 8 - followed
me through one of the markets. He asked for money for food, then he would
point to the clothes for sale. Once he pointed to a toy. And I wanted to buy
that toy for him more than anything. I decided if he followed me to the car,
I would do it. At least I could avoid others if they saw me give him money.
And that's just what happened.

When I could see the driver waiting for me, I handed the little guy 50
Rupees (about a $1). He looked down at the bill and turned and walked away.
As I got in the car, I turned back. He was watching me. I waived to him, and
he waived back. He had the most beautiful smile you've ever seen.

That's the best money I've spent in a long time.
