Over the years, we've walked past it a hundred times, and each time we've said "We need to eat there."
And so on her last Monday night in New York City, Brenda and I ate at The Waverly Inn.
It was cozy and warm and a perfect place to toast my first friend in New York. She showed me the way more than once, and for that, I'll always be grateful. I wish her the best, and I know she will do great things when she gets to Texas.
Brenda, you don't need any advice from me, BUT, I'll send you on your way with a bit of shared advice from my friend Scott Woodward. He says "You'll never know if you never go." And then there's our favorite line from Aunt Dottie -- "We only come this way but once!"
As far as I'm concerned, those are good bookends for life.
Thank you, my friend.

I was off on Monday, and didn't do a whole helluva lot. I bought some soap. A couple of friends texted me to ask what I was doing, and I said waiting for Celine on Oprah.
What a snooze fest. B O R I N G. My soap is more interesting.
Celine alternating between French and English with the added baby talk scared me. I am, however, glad to see they cut about two feet off of Rene Charles' hair.
And couldn't Lady O send her private jet to get the McGhee's and the sextuplets? I can't imagine going through security with six babies.
I surely can't imagine being the poor guy behind them in line.
And -- is Wal-Mart going to put that $250,000 gift to the McGhee's on a gift card? I wonder. That's a lot of Wal-Mart.
Ok. Back to work.
