That first cup of coffee this morning was extra special. I can't explain it. But it was nice. And I kinda wanted to just sit there and enjoy it. All day. But there'll be time for that soon enough.
I was out the door by 6:40, and the first one to open the barricade on the south side of Washington Square Park. It was unusually quiet and only a few transients sleeping in the grass.
You know the saying "the early bird gets the worm". The early birds were singing this morning. It was pretty amazing, and obviously these birds are the newest park residents. Welcome to the neighborhood. Glad you're here. Don't mind the people in the grass. They're harmless.
The cute little lady who does tai chi every morning was amused. Maybe fascinated is a better word. She kept tilting her head and peering into the tree to catch a glimpse. And as I passed her, she was walking toward that tree with a determined look in her eye. Did she climb that tree?
