8:20 p.m. MAJOR wind blowing through now. I can hear all kinds of things flying around. Water is rising in lower Manhattan. I may lose power soon. Lights are dimming. Very safe inside my apartment though. Who knew it was also a storm cellar?
7 p.m. Sandy went to Atlantic City. I have been there. She can have it. Friends, it rained in Manhattan today. It's windy now. I can hear a few things flying around. Sirens, too. Water has risen over the southern most tip of the island. More is expected. The lights have flickered a few times, and I've eaten too many chips today.
2 p.m. Sandy is picking up her pace. I guess like most of us, she's eager to get to NYC. I may have made my last walk. The wind is gusting occasionally. The rain is still light. Con Edison, the power company, just sent a recorded message that they may shut off electricity in Manhattan earlier than expected so that it's easier to bring the city back online. I'm ready -- candles, matches, flashlights, food, and yes, the bathtub is full of water.
10 a.m. - Calm and quiet. A little misty rain now. A few people are out and about. I made another trip to the grocery store. I went through a few provisions a little earlier than expected. It looks like Sandy is going to make her big arrival tonight. And so now we wait. NYPD is clearly on it -- The scaffolding on the building around the corner isn't stable. The area is sealed off. More later.
