Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Invictus: See It

It was a cool, rainy Tuesday and that it made perfect for movie night. I watched Invictus, and you have to see it.  Clint Eastwood directed and produced the story of the South African rugby team and their quest for the win at the 1995 World Cup. Morgan Freeman is always good, and his portrayal of Nelson Mandela was terrific.

But really, it's about more than that. I'll let you decide.

You'll learn in the film that the title comes from a poem Mandela read over and over again during his time in prison. Here it is...

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
