11:20 a.m. - She's gone. And this is all about she had in her. At least for Manhattan. The flooding has receded. We're lucky. I'm not sure what to do now. Everything is closed. Eat and watch tv? Oh, and I need to drain the tub. I've got plenty of "C" batteries and a couple of tacky candles that'll burn for days. Let me know if you need them.
9:35 a.m. - Irene, I knew you didn't have it in you. All talk. Just like a thug. You and your little gang of tornados tore up a bunch of stuff in NJ and on Long Island, but you chickened out.
Went for a walk around the block. No flooding here. No damage. Lots of leaves and twigs on the street. One limb down from a small tree. The flooding is coming in from the East River and Hudson River.
8 a.m. - I woke up throughout the night. Nothing much was happening. I was officially up and awake at 6 a.m. ready for whatever it is that a hurricane is supposed to be. Anderson Cooper said what I was thinking - "This is really an inconvenient rain." That's what is happening in Manhattan. I don't want to diminish what is happening in NJ and Long Island. Looks bad there.
If you want to know what's happening in my neighborhood, check out CNN. Anderson is broadcasting a block from my apartment.
