A few minutes ago I was struggling on what to write. Everything seems obvious.
Michael Jackson's doctor was found guilty. Another blonde has stepped forward to confess she was sexually harassed by a pizza man turned politician. Matt Lauer is traveling around the world. And I have an in-box full of e-mails from students in China who don't want to study the arts, but would appreciate it if I could kindly give them assistance.
Then I got a call to give a reference for a former student worker. For 20 minutes this lady grilled me with questions and cross examined me on everything I said. How much could I say? This kid was a student worker in 2006 and worked 20 hours a week. He showed up. Did what I said. And was pleasant to be around. Which is more than most.
About halfway through, I told her she was really tough. And she replied "I'm just being thorough."
Okay, lady. I think you should thoroughly relax, and maybe this kid should reconsider the job offer he's likely to receive. Should I tell him she might be a militant boss?
And now before I turn my efforts to these Chinese students, let me just ask you one more question: Have you noticed that these women who step forward with allegations of harassment all look the same? Name one that has shown up at her press conference in a pair of pants, a turtleneck, and a home perm.
I've got to go. China is waiting.
