As you can tell, I have some time on my hands during this "transition" period. It's fine. Not the ideal situation. But you know, it could be worse. So I'm reading a lot of blogs and I have a full grasp of what's happening in the world. (Sort of.) Oh and I activated the "timeline" on my Facebook page. I'm not a fan. And I'm getting work done that needs to be done.
So it's college graduation time. Everyone is posting their favorite speeches full of advice. I came across this Holstee Manifesto. Some blogger likes it a lot, and swears this is the way to a better life. Read for yourself. Check my comments on the other side.
1. I agree with the first couple of lines. Once, I quit a job I didn't like. One of the best things I've done.
2. You should watch TV. It bothers me when people tell me they don't own a television. What do they do? Sit around and think all day and night?
3. All emotions are beautiful. That's bullshit.
4. Life is complicated. If you go around thinking it's simple, you're setting yourself up for a lot of therapy. Once you realize it's complicated, the good times are simple and that's the best part.
5. I believe firmly in cleaning your plate.
6. I don't recommend opening yourself up to just anyone. There are some weirdos out there.
7. United in differences. Hmmm? That concept doesn't seem to be catching on. Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Battles over equality in the U.S.
8. DO NOT EVER ask anyone what their passion is. That's just weird and completely absurd. If you know someone and don't know what their passion is, you don't really know them.
9. Travel. You must.
10. Getting lost? It's happened to me. And last night, I temporarily lost my wallet. I didn't really find myself, but I did cuss myself out. By the way, after a 40-minute search, I found it in my shoe neatly put away in my closet.
11. I do agree that life is short. I bet even when you're 100, you'll want more time.
Now that I've taken some of your time, I should devote some of mine to actually working. And just remember, don't ask about passion. And if someone asks what yours is, run.
