I think the last time I was sick was about two years ago. I hate it. So fighting a cold this week has been a pain in the ass. I went to the lady in my office with a kid and a few nasal issues of her own for advice. Jenn gave me three options: Mucinex D, Mucinex Fast Max, and then a Neti Pot.
I've heard about Neti Pots, but the idea of pouring a saline solution through my own nose seemed, to be honest, a little scary. I went with options one and two. Mucinex D did nothing, and Fast Max gave me a cheap buzz.
I woke up early this morning. No, it was beyond early. It was ridiculous and so was the congestion. I was left with option three. I went to CVS and bought a Neti Pot. I read the instructions, and Jenn had explained what would happen.
I did the right side. Then the left. I expected immediate results. The only thing I got was disappointment. I moved on, and maybe a minute later I felt a slight need to blow my nose. Very slight.
It happened. Something unleashed. The bottom fell out of the snot wagon, and the angels sang.
I'm talking about at least tablespoon of nastiness. It was just gross enough that I want to do it again. And then maybe again.
If you don't have a Neti Pot, invest in one now. It's No-More-Congestion Magic.
