Late in the afternoon, someone asked what I am doing now. I told her. And she said "What does that mean?" I ducked my head, exhaled, and said something. She had that glossy blank gaze of "huh?"
Exactly.
What I should have said was "I'm the manager at an adult daycare center." That's as close as I can get to telling you what I do. Except they aren't pleasant and can't follow directions.
Yesterday, for example, three people needed my help. They had surpassed my tolerance level for poetic emails. I replied with a request to answer four questions and that "yes" or "no" was the only response necessary.
Could they follow those directions?
No.
Absolutely not.
Two of the three called me. One immediately. And one after hours.
Teachers are the worst.
