The weak need not show up around here. I'll explain.
I went for lunch at the elementary school. I expected complete chaos. It was not. Actually, it was one of the more peaceful parts of the day. I did opt out of the grill cheese and blue-green apple sauce. Madison got to invite her friend Jordan to sit with us, and Madison has invited me back today so that she can invite more friends. I'll be there.
Leddy goes to school half a day, and so we played and napped until it was time to pick the others up. After school, we grabbed Blizzards from Dairy Queen, and headed to the city park in Sulphur Springs. They ate couple of bites of the Blizzard and insisted on handing it over to me.
Five minutes after we got to the park, Jake crouched down and struggled to say "Josh, I've gotta poop." He did. And so did Leddy. Hers was green, and that gave her the giggles. I was impressed there was toilet paper, soap, water, and paper towel in a public bathroom.
After that, we ran and played hide-and-seek for an hour. No one argued about leaving although Madison did have a minor break down when she realized I threw away her ice cream. And I think that was a temper tantrum when I told her we weren't stopping to eat.
We did stop to get pumpkins, and while Madison and Jake fought and cried over which one was theirs, Leddy picked up the biggest one and put it behind the suburban, waited, and probably laughed at me trying to make peace between the other two.
They all bicker with each other, and I yelled at them about half-way through the 20-minute ride home. There was a moment or two of silence, and one of them said "I think he's gonna pull this car over."
And that made me laugh out loud.
How many times did I hear that growing up?
I helped Madison with her second grade homework. That took an hour!!! They decorated their pumpkins, we had a big chicken-fried steak supper, my mom asked for a computer lesson, and then at 10 p.m. my brother needed to be picked up at the sale barn.
A full day people. A full day.
