This morning I was skimming SwissMiss and ran across two things of interest. The first was a metaphor on bamboo. My first boss in New York offered something similiar to this as guidance shortly after I showed up in the Big Apple:
“Bamboo is flexible, bending with the wind but never breaking, capable of adapting to any circumstance. It suggests resilience, meaning that we have the ability to bounce back even from the most difficult times. . . . Your ability to thrive depends, in the end, on your attitude to your life circumstances. Take everything in stride with grace, putting forth energy when it is needed, yet always staying calm inwardly.” -- Ping Fu
I was thinking that would be the feature of today's post, and while I was thinkit I went looking for a mailing label. Just a mailing label. Nothing fancy. Just a label. Nothing. But we have a room from floor to ceiling with every other damn thing imagineable, mostly seasonal decorations. If you're a loyal reader, you'll appreciate that this is related to the lady with the coffeemaker issues.
That's when I thought: Bamboo ain't all that. But since no one was here at 9:08 a.m., there was no reason to break alone.
I went back to continue reading and there was a link to http://www.calm.com/. I happen to like the beach image and the natural sound. I'm listening to it now. Choose the one you like best, and if you're really into it, go through the guided meditation. I may play it loudly just to make them I've really lost it.
