Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Finding My Way in Taipei

I was in Taipei for about 48 hours. I think. It rained for 46 of those hours. And during one of those rain-free hours, I went out on a little adventure to discover Taipei. Here's what I learned.

1.) It's hard to get good directions.

2.) It's even harder to follow directions.

3.) Maps don't help much.

4.) The hardest of all is trying to match Chinese names from a map to street signs.

5.) When I see people wearing disposable masks on the streets, I get a little worried. And about half of the people here wear them. Imagine.

6.) If you're interested in opening a motorcycle distributorship here, do it.

7.) Or if you have any desire to open a fashion mall, by all means, get here as fast as you can. It's ridiculous. And sort of boring. Actually, very boring.

8.) At the next UN or G20 meeting, I propose all countries make a motion to insist people around the world chew with their mouth closed. It would be a small step toward world peace and a more pleasant dining experience for everyone.

9.) And once we all get some manners, let's address why people talk so loud. Specifically, the table of people behind me. Shut up! Please.

The tallest building in the world.

As I write this I'm in the airport waiting on my flight to Singapore.

I ordered lunch, and clearly by the photos below I had no idea what I was ordering. You should've been here - there was plenty to share! The waitress giggled on the second trip.

And you should've seen the looks from everyone around me!

I ate every bit.
