Lou Ann decided to have a party last night, and I thought that was the best idea I had heard in a while. She dialed the phone, and I flipped through her recipes. By six, the doorbell rang and in they came.
There are two things I consider required at Christmas: a big batch of Brandy Icy and Sausage Balls. I made both, and served up the holiday goodness as they went through the house on a little holiday home tour.
I will say now that everyone was a lot of fun. I do, however, have my favorites.
The first cornered me in the kitchen for wine and said "This is just what I needed. I have had my grandchildren for a week. Santa is coming to our house tonight and they are waiting for me to get home, but I really just want to stay here and drink."
And then there is this treasure of a lady, and since she's a lady, I'm not going to reveal her identity, but I will say that she came back from the very brief tour with an empty glass. She walked over to me and said "I'll think I'll have just a little bit more." Before long, I noticed another empty glass. She winked, extended her glass, and I poured. She offered another wink and said "It sure is good."
It surely is.
