It's Monday morning, and I've happily had my hands full since Thursday. Literally. So here's how the first day unfolded.
Friday, April 20:
12:15 a.m. - During the course of the party, we lost a bracelet and a camera. Security was on full alert. They recovered the bracelet almost immediately. The camera remained missing. I said good night to the ladies at the Marriott elevator. They may or may not have gone out for more fun. Dottie had been up for 21 hours, so I think she was going for a full 24. I didn't ask any questions.
9 a.m. - I spoke to Lou Ann and she advised that they'd check out of the hotel by 10. The camera was returned. And they checked out. She left her phone in the room, and had to return to the hotel.
11 a.m. - Fun ladies officially occupy 210 Sullivan. My little four-legged buddy, Simon, had also been signed up for the weekend. At this point, he wanted to use a phone to call his Dad to ask what in the hell was going on. Instead, he buried himself in his blanket and was all too eager to go to doggie daycare.
1 p.m. - Birthday lunch at Gramercy Tavern. As wonderful as the two ladies. And we might have had more dessert than we did other food. Just as it should be.
3:30 p.m. - Tour of the World Trade Center Memorial. Something to see. Something not to forget.
4:30 p.m. - Walk on The Highline. And then a birthday drink at The Boom Boom Room. A view they will not soon forget.
6 p.m. - Simon was picked up, walked, fed, and secured for the evening. At some point between 22nd Street and 11th Street, we lost an earring. Despite our best attempts to retrace our steps, we didn't recover.
8 p.m. - Evita. It was good. Enjoyable. But I'll admit that I was a little sleepy. I pushed on.
11 p.m. Returned to 210 Sullivan with Simon. Our goal was to put the ladies to bed and then make a quick exit to sleep at Simon's. After walking him, we return to my apartment. The ladies were more than a little excited. "YOU HAVE A MOUSE!!!!!!!!!!" I hope that screach I heard was internal only. Nice. Just what you want when you have guests.
So at this point, I didn't feel like I could really split and say "See ya." I made their bed. And then made mine.
I called for quiet hours from the ladies. Simon crawled into bed with me. I know I heard him say "My dad is a doctor. I don't live like this."
He slept. They slept. I slept. And that mouse ran like hell.
