Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Same Same.

I'm in the airport lounge and waiting for the first leg of the 9,627 mile journey home. It will be 29 hours before I touch down at Kennedy, and if my math is right, I'll be one hour short of exactly a three-week trip.

It's been great, and here's why:

1. I didn't get sick. I've got $50 worth of potions that have never been opened. They can patiently wait in the bag for the next trip.

2. I saw more than I ever expected to see.

3. And what I'm learning about the world comes mostly from cab drivers, and that's the way I like it. Mahadeeb and the others taught me a lot about their countries, and I'm happy to report that we're all pretty similar. We want the same things.

4. And further proof that the world is not so different -- Yesterday I spent a couple of hours by the pool, and I watched these kids play. They were Muslim. The two little girls were completely covered - long pants, long sleeves shirts and their heads were covered. They played so hard with their little brother. And like most little kids at a swimming pool, they got into trouble. Their mother fussed at them and cautioned them to be careful just like any parent. And they were just like the hundreds of kids I watched at the Country Club every summer. That was the highlight of Kuala Lumpur for me.

In Singapore, they say "Same Same." I agree. People around the world are same same.

I'm ready to be home. And I'm ready to make my own coffee and to hear "Good Morning America, I'm Diane Sawyer."

Home Sweet Home
