A couple of weeks ago, I recommited to my early morning workouts. I'm loving them. It feels good to be back, and say without any hesitation that my day is better when I get up and get out.
Getting out on the street as the sun comes up means good entertainment. There are some shady characters on the street early at that time of day. And by shady, I don't mean dangerous. Just shady. And interesting. But definitely from a distance.
Yesterday, for example, four people literally spilled onto the street from one of the neigborhood bars. It was about 6:15 a.m. They were feeling it. And they were hungry.
This morning, I encountered some dude in all black with his headphones and sunglasses. He was on a mission, and he had the beat. Right behind him was a gal in fringe.
And then I remembered the "ladies" I used to know on the corner of W12th and Hudson. Technically they weren't ladies, and I didn't really know them, but when I was training for the marathon, every morning around 6, I'd see them shutting down for the night. By the time marathon day rolled around, we had a "hey"-and-"hey baby" friendship. I crossed the finish line and never saw them again.
At this point, I don't know the point to this story. I have work to do. None of which is shady. And now that I think of it, that's kinda boring.
More tomorrow.
