"I've gone all day without hearing any of that shitty Christmas music." -- a classy looking older lady on the Upper East Side.
You overhear a lot of conversations in New York, and that's the one that made me laugh out loud last night.
I went uptown to meet Traci at Bloomingdale's. We crossed the street to see The King's Speech. We were the youngest in the theatre by 30 years, so there was lots of talking during the movie. Lots. Mostly about the volume: too loud one minute or not loud enough the next. Oh, and shitty Christmas music.
By the way, The King's Speech is terrific. See it. I predict you're going to see Colin Firth pick up the Oscar for his performance.
Thinking of sounds of the season -- you know what irks me?
The Uggs shuffle. It drives me nuts.
I can hear the shuffling coming: on the sidewalk. I just stop and let them pass.
In the office. I cringe.
Is it impossible to pick up your feet in these boots? I don't know.
But here's my wish for the day: I hope I can go all day without hearing that shitty shuffle.
