Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Spoon: The Other Utensil

Thursday, August 7: The other night I had dinner with friends, and I sat there amazed at the importance of the spoon at mealtime.

Growing up, the spoon was just sort of there on the table, mainly for stirring the Sweet-N-Low into your iced tea. I can't think of any other time it was used. And I'll admit to sometimes just pouring the packet into the tea, swishing it around a little.

Here? The spoon is very important, and I would say there's an art to using it in harmony with your fork, or chopsticks. Me? I fumble. I don't know which hand to hold the fork. Or the spoon. This also explains why there are at least 25 spoons in the apartment. One knife. Three forks. The rest: chopsticks.

Which brings me to my final point. I didn't enjoy my lunch. And now that I've that I've raved about the spoon, do you think I could find one in the office? No.

So, I sit here at my desk, eating Skippy Super Chunk reduced fat peanut butter with one chopstick.

Folks. West has met East. And it's time for departure.
