Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Take Me Home Country Road

Thursday, July 24 -- Last night a colleague took me to dinner. He's Singaporean, so I asked him to take me for local food. Off we went to Chinatown.

It was a great evening. The Chinese lanterns that are strung between the brightly painted shophouses swayed in the cool breeze. Lots of people were strolling through the streets.

The food is prepared right there on the street, and it was delicious. Of course, I can't remember what we ate. But we drank water chesnut juice, and I have to say I went back for a second serving. Have some!

We were having a great conversation about Singapore when I heard in the distance "Take Me Home Country Road" by John Denver. I broke the conversation, turned around to see where it was coming from and said "are you kidding me?" It was from a local CD shop.

Here I am 15,000 miles from home, eating with chopsticks, talking about the history of Singapore, and this is what I hear.

I love it. And I've been singing that song ever since.
